2 Everett teens will face charges for threat at Bunker Hill Community College

Two Everett teenagers will face criminal charges for putting a threatening note on a student’s car at Bunker Hill Community College on July 25, according to a state police statement.

The threat caused the Charlestown school to lockdown for more than three hours and spurred a law enforcement response that included state police K-9 units, FBI and state police bomb technicians, and Boston police and firefighters. Students and staff were not allowed to enter the parking lot where the note as found, and the MBTA closed the Community College Orange Line stop during the investigation.

The teens told state police the threat was a prank, according to the statement.

The suspects, a 19-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy, are facing the following charges: threats to commit a crime against a person, making a threat that disrupts a school or public building, and disorderly conduct.

“Regardless of the reason for the threat and the acknowledgement that it was a prank, the serious impacts it caused in terms of fear and disruption to the community, and the drain on numerous law enforcement and emergency agencies, warrant the filing of equally serious criminal charges,” the statement said.

The woman’s name will be released after the charges are filed in court, police said, while the juvenile’s name will not be released.
