20-year-old arrested for 3 alleged assaults in Boston and Cambridge

The suspect in back-to-back assaults this past weekend in Harvard Square and Downtown Crossing was arrested Tuesday in Boston, authorities said.Boston police saidDavongie Stone, 20, of Boston, was wanted in connection with a stabbing that left a man suffering from life-threatening injuries near Washington and Winter Streets around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday. After a “comprehensive investigation,” Stone was identified as the suspect in the attack, police said. Stone was seen walking near the Boston Common, where he was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. Stone has been charged with assault with intent to murder, armed robbery, and intent to rob while armed in Boston. His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday in Boston. Cambridge police said Stone will be charged with two counts of armed assault to murder for the alleged assaults that occurred near Harvard Square Saturday night. The first incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when a man came up behind a Cambridge resident as he was crossing the street near Eliot and Bennett streets near the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, grabbed him, and struck him in the back of the head, according to police.Fifteen minutes later, Cambridge police responded to a report than another man walking toward John F. Kennedy Park to smoke a cigarette was stabbed in the lower back and punched in the face by a man with three other individuals.Both victims in Cambridge sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
