Driver arrested after crash on I-95 kills motorcyclist
A 50-year-old Tyngsborough woman was arrested after a crash on Interstate 95 north in Reading Thursday morning resulted in the death of a male motorcyclist.
Lynn E. Dewolfe was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the crash, according to a state police statement. She is facing the following charges: operating under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury and death, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violent.
Police said Dewolfe was driving a Saab 9-3 sedan erratically, which caused her to crash into a vehicle near exit 37 around 10 a.m. That vehicle then hit the motorcycle, which threw the male from his bike. The motorcyclist was transported to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.
According to police, Dewolfe continued driving on I-95 and was reportedly involved in more crashes between exits 38 and 42, before she was stopped and taken into custody by a Wakefield police officer and state trooper.
Dewolfe was being held at state police’s Danvers barracks and was expected to be arrainged in Woburn District Court.
