Police arrest Hingham driver — with other car’s license plate lodged in grill
Cohasset police arrested a man Saturday on drunk driving charges after noticing he was driving with another car’s bumper and license plate lodged in the front of his Jeep, officials said.
Nicholas Ryan Boyle, 21, of Hingham, was pulled over after he allegedly drove his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee toward a police officer who was directing traffic, police said. Asked if he had been in an accident, Boyle said “I did not think so,’’ police said.
Boyle failed a number of field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, driving to endanger, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, and failure to drive in marked lanes, police said.
Police received a report of a hit-and-run crash about one mile from where Boyle was stopped, police said. The license plate lodged in Boyle’s vehicle belonged to the car that was hit, police said.
Erin K. Feeney, 28, of Pembroke, was also arrested Saturday morning after she crashed her 2008 Toyota Rav4 into a tree, police said. The officer directing traffic around her crash also stopped Boyle.
Both Feeney and Boyle were arraigned on OUI charges in Quincy District Court on Monday.
