Hiker suffering cramps rescued off Mount Monadnock
JAFFREY, N.H. (AP) — A Massachusetts hiker is recovering after being rescued off of New Hampshire’s Mount Monadnock.
WMUR-TV reports 28-year-old Sean Heisler, of Harwich, was overcome by muscle cramps caused by dehydration while hiking Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey Sunday. Mount Manodnock park staff tried to assist the hiker down the mountain while rehydrating him before it was determined he would need to be carried down.
Fish and Game officers were called to the scene to help carry Heisler down the slope. Crews carried Heisler to a landing zone where he was airlifted.
Fish and Game officials say hikers should always be prepared with appropriate gear and drink water during hikes.
