Police are investigating a second crash on Route 3 allegedly caused by a thrown object
The driver of a tractor-trailer told state police that he was driving on Route 3 south in Tyngsborough early Wednesday morning when someone threw an object at his windshield, causing him to crash.
The driver, a 39-year-old man from Warren, said he swerved suddenly when the object was thrown, which caused the rear trailer of his double-trailer to flip over. He was not injured.
According to police, the man said he saw a person come from the wood line at the same time the object was apparently thrown, at about 1 a.m. Troopers recovered a tree log from the right lane of the highway, police said.
Roughly three weeks earlier, on June 22, state police said they responded to a report of a crash at about 2:10 p.m. on Route 3 south in Chelmsford, about two exits away from the tractor-trailer crash.
In that crash, the driver of a Honda Civic told police that she believed someone threw a rock at her car from the wood line, which caused her to veer off the road into a ditch. The driver, a 22-year-old South Easton woman, was not injured.
State police said they are investigating whether the two incidents are connected.
