Small fire shuts down Green Line service downtown
Downtown Green Line service was disrupted after a small fire near a wire above a train forced the MBTA to shut down the line between the Government Center and Arlington stations.
Boston district fire chief Paul Burke said the fire above the train around 1:10 p.m. knocked the power out to the train at the Boylston Street station and also stopped two other trains in the tunnel. Power was restored on the Green Line with in an hour.
Burke said there were two minor injuries.
He said there were 100 people on each of the three trains who had to walk through the tunnel and leave the stations.
