Cab hits group of people in East Boston; at least 10 injured
Ten people have been taken to local hospitals after a taxicab jumped a curb and drove into a group of cabdrivers taking a break in an area outside the taxi pool building near Logan International Airport, officials said.
There is no information to suggest the crash was intentional, State Police said. The driver, who has been cooperative from the outset, is being interviewed by state troopers. His cab has been seized for further investigation.
The incident happened at about 1:40 p.m. at 48 Porter St. in East Boston. The driver was a 56-year-old Cambridge man, said State Police spokesman David Procopio.
“He is known to be a very nice gentleman to his peers,” State Police Major Frank McGinn said at a news conference. He said there was no information so far to suggest the incident was anything other than a “tragic accident.”
