PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A ballet dancer has been seriously injured by a truck in a Rhode Island hit-and-run but is recovering.
Police say the crash happened near Hope High School in Providence on Sunday. Investigators say Festival Ballet Providence dancer Jordan Nelson was struck by a box truck that fled the scene.
The 28-year-old company dancer suffered several serious injuries including a skull fracture and multiple broken bones. Police say the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The company’s website says Nelson began his ballet training at age 18 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and spent time at Ballet Chicago.
Nelson’s family is asking any witnesses to come forward.
