Local police department tells residents not to worry—that’s just the sun
After a long cloudy stretch, Stoughton police joked on Facebook during Wednesday’s sunny afternoon that they had been “inundated with calls for a strange object in the sky.”
“Please don’t worry,” the department wrote. “We have spoken with our partners at NASA and they have assured us that it is simply a large star called the sun.
“It can only harm you if you don’t wear sunscreen, which can be purchased locally. They have told us to encourage our residents to get out and enjoy it. Portions of the sky appear to have a bluish tint to it as well. This too is ok.”
The sun should start seeming less “strange” soon, as the National Weather Service forecasts warmer temps will start to move in this weekend.
