A man robbing a Dunkin’ Donuts was stopped by a cop on a coffee run, police say
A man who tried to rob a Dunkin’ Donuts in Boston’s Andrew Square early Wednesday morning apparently ignored the fact that a uniformed police officer on a coffee run had just left the store, according to police.
Boston police said 51-year-old Stephen M. White and the officer in “full uniform” were in the store at the same time, shortly after 1 a.m. When the officer reached his marked cruiser in the rear lot after picking up his order, a Dunkin’ employee ran out the store’s back door and yelled, “He’s robbing us! He’s robbing us!” according to police.
The officer then bolted to the front of the store, dropping his order in the process. As White exited with a brown paper bag with several hundred dollars in stolen cash, he was placed into custody by the officer and later charged with unarmed robbery and threats to do bodily harm, police said.
Police said the employees then replaced the officer’s coffee order free of charge.
