Cambridge officer killed on duty gets long overdue honor

The death of Cambridge police Sergeant Charles E. Bradley was just one of the tragedies that struck as an unforeseen winter storm hit Massachusetts on Dec. 13, 1934.

A skidding car hit the 34-year veteran as he crossed Massachusetts Avenue while authorities across the region dealt with emergencies including a double-fatal crash in Brighton that left a car at the bottom of the Charles River. The latter incident was the top story in the next day’s Globe.
