All the rain hitting New England this weekend was actually snow in some parts of Vermont
It's mid-May.
Consider it a Mother’s Day gift — of sorts — for Vermonters.
As the rest of New England was doused with rain this weekend, patches of the Green Mountain State actually woke up to a few inches of snow Sunday morning. At the summit of Mount Snow, the accumulation even reached up to nine inches.
Almost 9″ overnight!?!? Since when did May become February?

Unfortunately, skiing is closed for the season at the aptly named Dover, Vermont resort. But skiers can wistfully watch the storm descend on the mountain or view the current summit accumulation via Mount Snow’s summit cameras (that said, the base of the mountain looked more muddy than snowy Sunday morning).
The snowfall Sunday wasn’t as heavy or widespread as last month’s April Fool’s Day snowstorm, but nevertheless elevated regions of southwestern Vermont definitely saw more than a dusting — even though the season is closer to summer than it is winter.
