Connecticut woman bakes brownies, bear tries to break into her home
This past weekend, residents of Avon, Connecticut, found themselves in a hairy situation when a hungry bear tried to break into a home while the homeowner was baking brownies.
Neighbors called 911 after they saw the animal pressed against a glass door on the back porch, WFSB reports. According to neighbor Bob Belfiore, the bear was “angry” that it was unable to access the food.
HEY! Are those brownies in there? This bear was sniffing out some treats in an #Avon kitchen. See more CT wildlife: https://t.co/CkYC4ESOFd pic.twitter.com/jxZpOkxaCQ

“We have a bear attempting to get into a house and he’s not afraid of noise, screaming or yelling or pounding,” Belfiore told 911 dispatchers.
The animal successfully opened the screen door, according to WFSB, but was unable to get past the glass sliding door.
Avon police arrived to the scene after receiving the 911 calls, but the bear was no longer in the area. Members of the state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection were not called to the scene, but the department said it will continue to monitor the animal.
No injuries were reported as a result of the encounter.
“It was a rather harrowing experience,” Belfiore told WFSB, “although it looks cute in the photos.”
