A new park is coming to Landmark Center in Fenway
The parking lot at Landmark Center will become home to a different kind of park next summer.
Real estate developer Samuels & Associates is planning to begin construction this summer on a one-acre open space in Fenway, which will replace a parking lot in front of the Landmark Center. Proposed plans for the park include a walking path, trees, and restaurant seating on Park Drive and Brookline Avenue.
Samuels is hoping to have the park completed by next summer, the Herald reports. The developer still has to acquire a small piece of city-owned land in order to move forward with the project.
The open space is part of Samuels’ $650 million Landmark Center expansion, which was set to include 550 new housing units, a 75,000-square-foot Wegmans supermarket, 15,000 square feet of office space and an underground parking garage when it was approved by the Boston Planning and Development Agency in 2014.
Samuels is modifying these plans in response to market conditions, according to the Herald. Among these changes will be the proposed Wegmans, which won’t be done until at least 2019.
