Case of slain city official remains unsolved a year later
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — The case of an 81-year-old Woonsocket official who was found fatally stabbed in her home remains unsolved a year after her death.
Constance Gauthier was found dead on March 23, 2016. Officials say she died from multiple stab wounds.
WJAR-TV reports that police haven’t said if they have a person of interest. They’re waiting on evidence to be processed but say it’s a complex case.
Capt. Michael Lemoine has said investigators do not believe it was a random act and that there’s no broader threat to residents.
Gauthier was chair of the city personnel board that oversees hiring, hears employee grievances, among other duties.
