Police say a male suspect stole $100 worth of frozen shrimp from a Cambridge store and escaped on a bike with the crustaceans stuffed down his pants.

Officers responded to a report of armed robbery at a store on Memorial Drive on March 18 around 9 a.m., according to Cambridge police spokesman Jeremy Warwick. The suspect, who was carrying approximately 10 bags of shrimp in a shopping basket, hid the bags in his pants and tried to leave the store with the stolen seafood. The crime was first reported by Wicked Local.

When employees confronted the man, he mentioned to them that he had a knife. However, no knife was shown. He then escaped with the shrimp still in his pants and rode off on a bike toward Central Square.

Warwick said the suspect is a black male in his 40s, around five feet eight inches tall. He was last seen wearing a dark blue jacket, grey sweatpants, a black beanie hat, and a backpack.

Several police units searched the area upon arrival but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect, and no cameras were found in the store. Officers are still on the hunt for the shrimp thief.
