Federal judge in Mass. won’t extend order halting Trump immigration ban

In two contradictory rulings on Friday, a federal judge in Seattle blocked President Trump’s ban on travelers and immigrants from seven Muslim-majority nations, while a federal judge in Boston refused to extend a court order that had temporarily blocked the ban.

US District Judge James Robart in Seattle ruled that the states of Minnesota and Washington had standing to challenge Trump’s order, which government lawyers disputed, and said the states showed their case was likely to succeed.
