An ATM-like machine will dispense Big Macs in Kenmore Square
On Tuesday, McDonald’s will set up a “customized digital Big Mac ATM” that spits out free burgers for a few hours in Kenmore Square as part of a promotion celebrating the launch of its two new Big Mac sizes, according to a press release.
Customers can stop by 540 Commonwealth Ave. between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to grab a sample of the two new sizes, sans human interaction: the Mac Jr., a smaller, single-patty version; or the Grand Mac, a bigger version that weighs in at 1/3 pound.
Both sizes include American cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles, and Big Mac Sauce.
No cash payment is necessary, but to get a burger, patrons must enter their Twitter account information into the machine, which sends out a pre-generated tweet: “Check out the new Big Mac.”
McDonald’s franchisee Victor Spadea said this is a new way for the company to engage with consumers.
“It’s really just a fun way to be modern and progressive,” Spadea said in an interview with The Boston Globe. “I think we’ll have lines out the door.”
In the press release, McDonald’s said the new sizes are a response to customers who want a Big Mac “… at the size that best fits their appetite.”
