The City of Boston is joining the throngs of people taking to social media with a message for outgoing President Barack Obama: Thank you.

In a video released Thursday by the city, Bostonians took a moment to say thanks to the former Somerville resident and Harvard graduate for the words and actions he took while in office that left a lasting impact on the city. The messages ranged from students at the Ellison-Parks School in Mattapan to doctors at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

“On behalf of the people of Boston, I’d like to say thank you President Obama for everything you have done for Boston, for our nation,” Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said. “You have been our champion from empowering us as a city to affecting change to give us hope and comfort when we needed it the most.”
