Arlington police used a SWAT team Friday to rescue people trapped inside a rooming house after a man threatened police with a knife and barricaded himself inside the rooming house where he lives, Arlington police said.

Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan said his officers were called to Silk Street around 4 a.m. to investigate a disturbance in the neighborhood and were immediately confronted by a man armed with a knife.
