Police interview heard in hearing for New Hampshire murder-for-hire case

CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire judge will decide whether there is evidence to move forward with a trial for a woman accused of plotting to kill her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend.

The Eagle Times reports that prosecutors played a police audiotape during a probable cause hearing for Monique Earle’s case on Monday in Claremont. A judge continued the hearing to Dec. 19.

Earle faces charges that include conspiracy to commit murder.

Police say the 20-year-old Earle, who had been staying in a homeless shelter, offered an undercover police officer $500 and a purse to kill her ex-boyfriend’s lover.

According to the police interview, Earle told investigators she was afraid of being physically harmed by the woman.

Earle’s attorney recommended her client be placed in a residential facility. The judge upheld Earle’s bail.
