Man on motorized bicycle dies after crashing into truck in Methuen

A man on a motorized bicycle died Tuesday afternoon after crashing into a truck in Methuen, state police said in a statement.Around 1:40 p.m., a 58-year-old Methuen man operating the bicycle was stopped at a red light on the sidewalk adjacent to Route 110 westbound, next to a tri-axle truck at the Interstate 495 northbound off ramp.When the light turned green, the bicyclist and the truck moved forward. The bicyclist then came off the sidewalk and onto the roadway, hitting the passenger side of the truck, according to police.Police said the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck’s operator, a 29-year-old man from Hudson, New Hampshire, stayed at the scene, according to the statement.The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed, police said.
