1 dead, 5 injured in Westport rollover crash

One woman died and five others were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash that occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 195 in Westport, state police said in a statement.Around 3:13 a.m., police responded to I-195 eastbound just east of Exit 10 for reports of a crash. Troopers found a 2006 Honda Civic on its roof in the breakdown lane at the scene, according to the statement.Police said it appeared the Honda was traveling eastbound on I-195 when it exited the roadway on the median side and hit a jersey barrier before rolling over once as it crossed all the lanes, coming to a stop in the breakdown lane on the right side of the road.The car’s driver, 25-year-old Cassandra M. Camacho, of New Bedford, was ejected from the vehicle, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Five passengers, three men aged 19, 26, and 30 and two women aged 18 and 23, all of New Bedford, were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.The right lane remained closed until the scene was clear around 5:32 a.m., according to the statement. Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
