N.H. police surprise boy who gave officers treats in lieu of receiving birthday presents

Police said Owen looked "at home" sitting at the police chief's desk. Hooksett police

A New Hampshire boy who decided to send a care package to his local police department instead of receiving birthday presents got a treat in return from the grateful officers. The Hooksett Police Department received a package containing snacks and candy from Owen earlier this week. “To thank you for working so hard to keep our town safe, my friends and I collected supplies for you instead of presents for my birthday this year,” Owen explained in his note to police.

To show their appreciation, Hooksett police invited Owen and his family to the station to give the birthday boy a surprise.  The officers sang him “Happy Birthday” and gave him a present of their own, according to police. Owen also got a tour of the station, including the police chief’s office.

“Owen looks right at home at Chief Bartlett’s desk… Better watch out Chief!” the department wrote on Facebook.
