Early voting draws thousands, rave reviews

Iryelis Lopez of Hyde Park was headed back to college Tuesday after a short fall break. But first: a stop at City Hall to vote early in the fall election.

The mayor “voted yesterday, and my mom heard it on the news and told me to come vote before I left,” said Lopez, 21.

The state’s experiment with early voting, which began Monday, is unfolding like a big game of telephone: a mention on the news, a post on Facebook, a mother tells a daughter — and voila, thousands of voters are casting ballots in city halls and senior centers and churches around Massachusetts.
