Man steals car with baby inside; child unharmed

A man stole a car in Roxbury Monday night with a baby inside, according to Boston police. The child was found safe nearby in the car shortly after it was stolen.

A woman told police that she left the child in the car, which was unlocked and still idling, when she went to pay the gas station attendant at about 9:30 p.m. A man in his late teens or early 20s jumped into the car and drove off with the child, police said.

The car and baby were found two or three minutes later near 72 West Walnut St., according to police.
