A man on a bicycle who was killed Wednesday morning in a crash with an 18-wheeler in Cambridge’s Porter Square has been identified by authorities.

Bernard Lavins, 60, of Lexington, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office. Cambridge police spokesman Jeremy Warnick said the crash, which occurred on Massachusetts Avenue, opposite the Porter Square shopping area, was reported at 8:08 a.m.
