2 in custody after gunfire exchanged during police operation in Roslindale
Two suspects are in custody after gunfire was exchanged Tuesday during a police operation in Roslindale. No one was hit by the gunfire, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said Tuesday night.
Police had been searching for 25-year-old Eric Rosado-Gonzalez after the incident. However, shortly after a Tuesday night press conference, in which police released Rosado-Gonzalez’s photo, Boston police announced that he was in custody.

A second suspect, who Evans did not name Tuesday night, had been taken into custody earlier. Both suspects were expected to be charged with assault with intent to murder a police officer, according to police.
Shortly before 5 p.m., undercover officers responded to Newburg Street in regards to a joint investigation by Boston and state police, according to Evans. He said the officers had an “interaction” with the suspects and shots were fired. The confrontation began in a residence and spilled outside, he said.
“The suspect fired first,” Evans said.
“We were dealing with two very dangerous individuals,” he added. “Luckily, no one got hurt.”
Evans did say an officer was taken to a hospital with a “minor” injury. He said whether one or both suspects fired remained under investigation.
In the hours that followed the incident, residents in the immediate area were told to shelter-in-place as police searched for Rosado-Gonzalez.
