Suspect facing charges after trooper hit by motorcycle near Gillette Stadium following Patriots game

A motorcyclist who fled from police and struck and injured a state trooper near Gillette Stadium on Sunday is facing charges related to reckless operation, authorities say.

Jose Perez-Rodriguez, 25, of Everett, was driving erratically near a parking lot on Route 1 in Foxborough just before 4:30 p.m., according to Massachusetts State Police. The Patriots’ game against the Buffalo Bills ended shortly before 4 p.m.

When police tried to stop Perez-Rodriguez, he fled, driving his motorcycle south in the northbound lane, said police. That’s when he struck the trooper, said police. Police are not releasing the name of the trooper, who holds the rank of captain.

Perez-Rodriguez was released from Beth Israel Deaconess Sunday night and booked for charges related to reckless operation. A bail clerk set bail at $5,040.

Perez-Rodriguez will be arraigned Monday in Wrentham District Court.
