Pedestrian killed in Medford hit-and-run

A pedestrian was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run on Route 16 in Medford, state police said in a statement.Around 5:38 a.m., troopers responded to Route 16 westbound, just before Wellington Circle, for reports of a pedestrian with serious life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle.On arrival, troopers found a man who had been hit by an unknown vehicle. Police said the vehicle had left the scene.The victim, later identified as Alberto Santos-Flores, 41, of Somerville, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.Police said a description of the wanted vehicle was not yet available and the incident remains under investigation.
