19-year-old dies after crash in Raynham
A 19-year-old Seekonk woman died Wednesday night after a crash on Interstate 495 in Raynham, state police said in a statement Thursday.Around 6:56 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to I-495 for a report of a crash on the southbound side near Exit 8.Hayley M. Sanford, was driving a 2002 Jeep Wrangler in the right lane when she entered the middle lane and collided with a 2007 Honda CRV, according to police.Both vehicles were sent into the dirt median due to the impact. Police said Sanford was ejected from her vehicle when it rolled over and suffered serious injuries.Sanford was taken to Raynham Park by ambulance before being medevaced to Rhode Island Hospital. She was pronounced dead late Wednesday evening, according to police.The Honda, driven by a 76-year-old New Bedford woman, crossed the median, entered the northbound side of I-495, and came to a stop on the far shoulder of the northbound side, police said. The 76-year-old was transported to Morton Hospital in Taunton for treatment of minor injuries.Police said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
