Pedestrian fatally struck in Wilmington
A 52-year-old woman died Wednesday after she was struck by a vehicle in Wilmington, police said in a statement.
Around 3 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Main and Richmond streets for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Police said a vehicle, driven by a Wilmington woman, hit the woman, also from Wilmington, near the entrance of a Rite Aid Pharmacy. The vehicle also struck two unoccupied cars in the Rite Aid parking lot, according to police.
Police said the female victim was taken to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver was also taken to the hospital.
The two women’s identities have not been released, and the crash remains under investigation, according to police.
