How popular is Gov. Charlie Baker? Very.
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is among the three most popular governors in the land.
A new survey by polling and media company Morning Consult shows Baker has a 70 percent approval rating among voters.
Morning Consult surveyed 71,900 registered voters in all 50 states from early May through early September. The voters were asked whether they approved or disapproved of their governor’s job performance.
According to the survey, Baker’s disapproval rating is 18 percent. Eleven percent of respondents said they did not know how they felt or were undecided.
Earlier this year, Morning Consult named Baker the most popular governor in the nation, with 72 percent of voters approving of his work. That survey measured responses from January to May.
Though Baker is not the top dog anymore (that distinction now goes to Dennis Daugaard of South Dakota), he is still a clear favorite. In second place is Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. The most unpopular governor is Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, followed by Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy.
Baker, who was elected in 2014, is expected to run for reelection in 2018.
