Cambridge makes the top 10 in list of best bike cities in the US
Boston placed 17th.
Cambridge and Boston’s cycling communities have reason to be proud of their cities.Both cities were ranked in Bicycling magazine’s “50 Best Bike Cities of 2016” list, which rated the most bike-friendly cities in America. Cambridge ranked eighth place, and Boston took 17th.Bicycling said Cambridge is “one of the safest and most progressive” towns for cyclists. The magazine pointed to the city’s clean air policies, low fatality rate, and requirements for new developments to promote bike riding.Bicycling
encouraged its readers to join one of the Cambridge Bicycle Committee’s community rides, which features the city’s culture and history.
Once named the worst city for cycling by Bicycling, Boston has made many improvements to become one of the more bike-friendly cities. The magazine touted the city’s Hubway bike share system and the upcoming Connect Historic Boston protected bike lane project.
