76-year-old woman struck and killed by car in Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A 76-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in Providence.
Providence police said Marie Exilas was struck Thursday evening while trying to cross Orms Street. She later died from her injuries.
A police spokeswoman tells The Providence Journal that 34-year-old driver Joseph Oldham, of East Providence, experienced sun glare.
Police also say Exilas wasn’t in a crosswalk when she was hit by Oldham’s vehicle at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday near the Providence Marriott Downtown.
The crash is still being investigated.
