Police: Swimmer missing in Plymouth
A man who was swimming in Great Herring Pond was reported missing Wednesday, Plymouth police said.Just before 4 p.m., officers responded to the pond for a report of a missing swimmer.Police said the swimmer was on a boat with two friends when he jumped into the water. When he didn’t come back up, his friends called for help.A search was launched using police, fire department, environmental police, and harbormaster resources. After a few hours and the swimmer remaining unfound, the search was called off due weather and dark conditions, according to police.
Police said the search would resume in the morning, but is now considered a recovery mission, as the man is believed to have drowned. The swimmer has not yet been publicly identified.
