Endicott College unveils new Peter Frates Hall

Endicott College unveiled its newest residence hall, which honors Pete Frates, and organized a giant Ice Bucket Challenge Tuesday, the college said on Twitter.Around 4 p.m., the campus community attended the unveiling of the Peter Frates Hall, named after the former captain of the Boston College baseball team and co-founder of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Frates and his family were onsite for the unveiling, and tours of the new facility, on the east side of the Beverly campus, were provided following the event, according to Endicott.

Since his diagnosis in 2012 at the age of 27, Frates, a Bervely native, has been raising awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease. The Ice Bucket Challenge raised over $225 million in 2014 for awareness and research on the disease.
