Police investigating after fire destroys covered bridge in Vermont
Police are investigating after a fire destroyed a covered bridge between Cornwall and Salisbury, Vermont, on Saturday afternoon.
State police responded to the scene on Swamp Road at the Otter Creek, just south of Middlebury, at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday for a report of a “suspicious fire,” according to a state police Facebook post on Sunday. Firefighters were already at the scene, police said, and the wooden bridge was fully engulfed in flames.
Police are investigating the origin and cause of the fire, and have asked for the public’s help.
