Young girl falls into fire pit at Billerica birthday party
A young girl accidentally tripped and fell into a fire pit Friday in Billerica, police said in a statement Saturday.Around 6 p.m., officers responded to the area of Bridle Road for a report of a 2-and-a-half-year-old girl tripping into a fire pit at a birthday party.The girl was quickly removed and placed into water to lesson any burn injuries, according to police. Paramedics took the child to a Boston hospital by medical helicopter for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries.Police said they do not suspect foul play and don’t believe carelessness, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the accident. The incident appears to have been “a nearly tragic accident,” Billerica Police Chief Daniel Rosa said in the statement.
