Bicyclist fatally struck by commuter rail train identified

The bicyclist struck and killed by an MBTA commuter rail train Sunday was identified as a 31-year-old Cambridge man, officials said Monday.

The agency’s Transit Police said Jean Leonard entered the tracks at the Park Street intersection in Somerville Sunday afternoon. The gates were in the down position when the outbound Fitchburg Line train approached, striking Leonard, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Transit Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s office are investigating the incident.
