A Catholic nun slain in Mississippi is being remembered as a “wonderful human” by her Stoneham family, reports The Boston Globe.

Sister Paula Merrill, 68, was found dead in her home along with another nun, Sister Margaret Held. Police in Mississippi said they performed a wellness check on the nuns when their place of employment became concerned after they didn’t show up for work on Thursday. The nuns worked as nurse practitioners at Lexington Medical Clinic. Police said they found evidence of a break-in at their home and one of the victim’s cars was missing.

“She was just such a wonderful human,” Rosemarie Merrill, Paula Merrill’s sister, told the Globe. “It’s a tremendous loss for that community.”
