St. Paul’s parent fundraised for Owen Labrie’s defense, documents say
A parent at St. Paul’s School helped raise over $100,000 to fund the legal defense team for Owen Labrie, the former student convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl two years ago, according to documents filed Thursday by the victim’s family’s lawyers in their lawsuit against the school, The Boston Globe reports.
After the incident, “prominent SPS parent” Joshua Abram sent an email to parents seeking assistance to pay for the prominent Boston attorney J.W. Carney Jr., according to the documents. Abram said he would contribute $10,000, the documents say.
The documents suggest that St. Paul’s own legal team coached defense witnesses during Labrie’s trial, the Globe reported.
