Police: 13-year-old boy stops man from breaking into his home

A 13-year-old Rockland boy stopped a man from breaking into his home, authorities say.

The incident happened just before 3 p.m. on Thursday, when a boy heard “suspicious noises” on the side of his home and went to investigate, according to the Rockland Police Department. When he went out back to look, he saw a man using a large knife to pick the side door lock of his home, police say. The would-be thief ran into the nearby woods after he saw the boy looking at him, police said. After that, the boy ran to a neighbor’s house to call the police.
