Tractor-trailer hits, kills pedestrian in Shrewsbury

A tractor-trailer struck and killed a male pedestrian Tuesday morning in Shrewsbury, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The crash occurred around 9 a.m. between exits 22 and 23 on Route 290 west, police said. The pedestrian walked into the right travel lane and was struck by a tractor-trailer, according to police.

The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending the notification of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The truck’s driver, a 50-year-old man from Worcester, stayed at the scene, according to police. Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
