Jeb Bush explains why he was walking alone in Boston

Emerson College student Ben Bailey thought he was dreaming when he saw Jeb Bush walking down Boylston Street toward Copley earlier this week. But, as he described in an animated Facebook post, the “face that has so commonly been associated with defeat” really did belong to the former presidential candidate, with whom he stopped to take a selfie Tuesday night.

Although Bailey said Bush was “wandering” around alone, The Boston Globe reported that Bush was really just headed back to his hotel after having a meal.

“I wasn’t wandering,” Bush told The Globe, adding a smiley-face emoticon to his response. “I was walking back from dinner to my hotel when I met the young guy.”

He ended his email with “Onward, Jeb,” a sign-off that’s worthy of a few claps.
