Boston police announces National Night Out events
Boston police announced in a statement Sunday its 2016 National Night Out event series, a celebration of Neighborhood Watch groups. The events will take place on Monday and Tuesday, August 1 and 2, from 3 to 9 p.m., and will honor “vital police/community partnerships,” according to police. Boston’s crime watch groups will also receive awards. Food, games, entertainment, and free kids’ activities will be available. Attendees will also get a chance to meet Police Commissioner William Evans, Mayor Marty Walsh, and Boston Police Department command staff, as well as visit sponsor tables, police said in the statement.The events will be held at the following locations:Monday:
- Brighton: Brighton Commons (Academy Hill Road and Chestnut Hill Avenue)
- Hyde Park: Iacona Field (Readville and Milton streets)
- Roslindale: Adams Park (Washington Street)
- Jamaica Plain: Mildred Hailey Apartments
- Mattapan: Almont Park (Almont Street)
- Roxbury: Shelburne Community Center
Tuesday:
- East Boston: Lo Presti Park
- Chinatown: Tai Tung Village
- North End: The Prado
- South End: Castle Square (Tremont Street)
- South Boston: Moakley Park (Columbia Road)
- Dorchester: Town Field Park (Dorchester Avenue and Park Street)
Police urged all Boston residents to turn their outside lights on for the events to show their support for the “united community effort against crime.”
