Kyzr Willis, 7, was last seen near the L Street bathhouse in South Boston just after 2 p.m., according to police.
Police said they believed Kyzr wandered away from a day camp on his own. He left his sneakers behind, and was likely roaming the area without shoes, Evans said at a press conference earlier on Tuesday.
“At this time, we don’t suspect any foul play,” Evans said earlier. “There’s no reports of anyone riding off with him, but we’re looking at all possibilities.”
Police dispatched patrols, K-9 and marine units, state police’s Air Wing, and the Coast Guard’s Air Wing to search for the him. Officers searched his Charles Street home in Dorchester, as well as his aunt’s home.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh released a statement after authorities found Kyzr’s body.
“The City of Boston is devastated to learn of the tragic loss of Kyzr Willis, and I will be working closely with Boston Centers for Youth and Families and the Boston Police Department until we know exactly what happened,” he said. “My heart is broken for the Willis family and my thoughts and prayers will be with them.”
