Bridgewater police are searching for a car that allegedly caused a multi-car crash that seriously injured two people Sunday.

Bridgewater police and fire responded to calls of a collision involving a motorcycle on Route 18, near Winter Place Plaza, just before 8 p.m.according to police.

Upon arrival, responding officers found the two occupants of a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle’s driver, a 49-year-old Middleborough man, was transported to Brockton Hospital with serious injuries. He was later taken by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His passenger, a 53-year-old Wareham woman, was transported to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.

After reviewing video surveillance, police said a red, four-door sedan unexpectedly pulled out in front of the motorcycle. Attempting to avoid a crash, police said the motorcycle swerved off the road and struck a tree.
