An award-winning nail salon in Sandwich was destroyed in a fire early Monday morning and a Pokemon Go player is credited with alerting emergency officials about the blaze.

The gamer called 911 after he smelled smoke and saw fire at Super Nails, according to the Sandwich Fire Department.

The 2-alarm fire broke out just after midnight at the salon, named Sandwich’s No. 1 nail salon in the 2016 Wicked Local Reader’s Choice Awards.

Firefighters were met with heavy smoke upon arrival and used thermal imaging cameras to locate the fire inside the multiple-use building, officials say. Crews knocked down the flames in 20 minutes and remained for two hours ventilating smoke from the building and making sure the fire hadn’t spread. Two firefighters were evaluated at the scene for heat exhaustion and one firefighter was taken to Falmouth Hospital for observation.

Officials say the business was a total loss and estimate the damage at $50,000 to $75,000.

Phondi Tran, the daughter of salon owners Ben and Kim, posted the following on the business’s Facebook page on Monday:

If you have ever been a client of ours, I’m sure you have met my parents. They are amongst the most hard working people I know. Growing up, my parents worked everyday, and made countless sacrifices to ensure that my sister and I have a good life so we don’t have to go through their struggles. As a daughter, I don’t want them to lose hope, for I’m worried that they will feel like everything they’ve worked so hard for is gone. With this unfortunate event, I ask you to please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, especially my mother and father.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
